Stories that echo: GESP project results and voices from the field

02.02.2023.

As the GESP project (Re-imagining the Playing Field – A Gender Equality in Sport Project) nears its conclusion, Society Support Alliance is proud to share key results that gave voice to female athletes, opened conversations on equality, and provided practical tools for organizations and individuals in sport.

One of the most powerful outcomes was the podcast series Breaking Barriers: Women in sport, which featured 30 honest and inspiring conversations with women from different countries, roles, and sports backgrounds. The voices included in the series come from across the sports world — from football, volleyball, and judo, to swimming, dance, handball, and even aikido and flag football. These are not just elite athletes; many are coaches, referees, or young women navigating their roles in grassroots sport.

Here are a few episodes worth exploring:

To capture some of their messages, we created a Quote Wall that highlights key statements and moments from the podcast.

Beyond the podcast, the GESP project also resulted in two major educational tools:

  • Gender Equality in Sport: A guide for athletes, coaches and professionals
  • Sport for All: A toolkit for Organizations

Both publications are now available in all partner languages and offer easy-to-use content for anyone looking to create more inclusive, respectful, and supportive sport environments. The Serbian and English versions will be shared directly by Society Support Alliance, while Macedonian, Turkish, and Spanish and Portugese versions can be found on the SDGYOU project website in the downloads section.
